Loosen the Grip of Irritability + Addiction with 6 Rituals to Rewild

“Go out in the woods, go out.

If you don’t go out into the woods nothing will ever happen and your life will never begin”

~ Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes

It’s Leo Month. Leo is the wild essence inside of you.

She doesn’t make herself small.

She doesn’t apologize for speaking her mind or taking up space.

She doesn’t suck in her stomach or hide the signs of her ripening wisdom -

She’s too alive for that.

Wild Woman loves her body.

Instead of being stuck in the dysfunctional obsession with youth, she lustily embraces the cycles of life.

Wild Woman doesn’t talk down on her body or that of any other person.

She knows that when we're separate from our bodies we're separate from our instincts, creativity and the primal root of our power.

To awaken the wild woman inside of you is to decolonize your body -

To remember that you are an animal child of the Earth, as important as the Willow, the Dolphin, the Sagebrush, and no more.

Like an animal, Wild Woman is in tune with her body.

Therefore, she’s in tune with her intuition and authenticity.

No matter our gender, when we abandon our bodies, we abandon the feminine.

When we abandon our bodies, we forget that we are nature.

If we lived in a world where more of us where connected to our bodies, the news would be far less violent than it is today.

“But I don’t have time for my wild self - I’ve got responsibilities + sh*t to do!”

I’m here to tell you - you can’t stop her.

If you don’t consciously make time for her, she will come out in her shadow form.

Pure Wild Women energy is raw, sensual and sexy and primal.

Wild Woman shadow is bitchy, addicted and unhappy.

She craves blood and she’ll accept nothing less - she either craves her own blood in the form of self criticism, masochism and addiction or she craves the blood of others - the irritable mother, the violent partner, the one who drinks too much at the dinner party.

🔥 When one glass of wine/night becomes three

🔥 When freeway traffic becomes road rage

🔥 When one chocolate bar/week becomes one chocolate bar/day

🔥 When a minor disagreement with your partner leaves you fuming

🔥 When the loud joy of children playing pisses you off

🔥 When one cigarette/week becomes three/day

Get thee to the forest or to ecstatic dance as quickly as possible, my friend!

Her light or her shadow ….

You choose.

This Leo lunation, beginning with the New Moon today, is the perfect time to enact your choice. So I've prepared you 6 Simple Rituals to Rewild Yourself.

We don't have to change our whole lives to reconnect. Even 5-10 mins of conscious intentional 'letting go' goes a long way.

6 Simple Rituals to Rewild Yourself

***Special Note for the Mamas + the Papas***

Several of these are beautiful ways to connect with your children. In fact, it was probably the moment when you were a kid that someone told you that you were “too loud” or “too much” or “too emotional” that began your domestication journey so save your kids money on future therapy and let them teach you about your wild self.

1) Dance Like An Animal

Optional step 1: light a candle

Step 2: Turn on music that fires you up and dance. If you can’t drop in right away, focus on your breath and the rhythm.

Step 3: When you’re warmed up, play with moving like a jungle cat or your spirit animal - really, how do they move? What does it feel like in your body? What feels good about that? Can you make it feel even better? What sounds do they make? - let go of weird adult social conditioning and really let yourself get into animal consciousness.

Note: This wasn’t at all weird for our ancestors. It was, in fact, a normal part of their communal practice. They studied and imitated animals in detail as a means of survival, slipping into their consciousness for the hunt and to more skillfully navigate the environment. Animals were the first deities. And don’t forget, you already are an animal. Let yourself remember what your people knew in their bodies. Set yourself free.

2) Unplug

Your phone is a leash. Turn it off and hide it from yourself for one hour, build to a half day/week and then to one day/week completely without a phone. What creative adventures will you discover with your newfound freedom?

3) Schedule a Sensual Date with Nature

Nature not just something you move through for relaxation - every single blade of grass is alive. Go into nature as far away from the sound of cars as you can without your phone. What would it feel like to touch that flower ever so softly across your face? To splay out on your belly amidst the redwoods? To rub your body against the varies textures of tree bark you encounter? To taste the soil that becomes your food the same way you’d taste a fine wine seeking for hints of blackberry? To sit in a tree and sing to it? Don’t stop there - get weirder. Trust that this ritual of reconnection will support you to return as a new person who’s so much nicer to yourself and others. Try it + see

4) Activate Your Root Chakra with Primal Moaning

You are an animal. Free your voice by make love to yourself - in front of the mirror and LOUDLY. Sensual tones that activate the root chakra are deep, guttural and loooooowww, the very opposite of nasal pornographic play acting. Here’s a wild woman playlist I made just for that purpose called “Sexual Sovereignty.”

5) Journal

Put on the Sexual Sovereignty playlist + reflect ~ What does your wild one within crave from you? What brings you vitality? What is one simple way you can invite more

6) Dress wild or sexy tomorrow - just for you!

I’m wearing my full body neon mushroom jumpsuit as I’m writing this. It makes me feel like a futuristic psychedelic shaman and somehow it makes my writing so much better! But you better believe that sometimes it’s all black lace and lots of mirror time….
